Share parametric family information from Inventor to Revit.
OverviewThe BIM Family Toolkit Technology Preview allows building product manufacturers the ability to easily export Inventor configuration data from iParts and iAssemblies (parameters, file properties & component visibility) directly to Revit families. Once the family data has been imported into Revit, users can create a simplified version and leverage the imported parameters and properties directly in Revit reducing the amount of time it takes to create BIM Ready Models.
There are two different expiration dates associated with this technology preview:
- The technology preview for Inventor/Revit 2012 expires on November 20, 2011.
- The technology preview for Inventor/Revit 2011 expires on August 1, 2011.
The technology preview will no longer operate after its expiration date. Previously created data will continue to function.
By downloading both the Inventor add-in and Revit Add-in you will be able to export the family data directly from Inventor and import it into Revit. You do not need to have both Inventor and Revit on the same machine. Review the following videos to learn the necessary steps to export/import the necessary family data as well as the process to update family information from Inventor to Revit.
